Cleaning an alabaster tea light holder with a soft cloth

Alabaster is a beautiful, natural material, but it needs a little more care than glass or ceramic. With the right attention your alabaster tea light holder stays gorgeous for years.

Cleaning

Clean alabaster with a dry or lightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh cleaners and never put alabaster in the dishwasher — this can damage the surface. More questions? Check our FAQ.

Use with candlelight

Alabaster transmits light beautifully and creates a warm, atmospheric glow. Always use stable tea lights or LED lighting, and never leave a burning candle unattended.

Prevent wax stains

Want to stop candle wax from sticking to the inside? Place a thin layer of sand in the holder before adding the tea light.

Be careful with drops and knocks

Just like glass or ceramic, alabaster can break if dropped or knocked hard. Always place it on a stable surface, away from edges or busy walkways.

Natural variation is not a defect

See small colour differences, veining or a slightly different structure than expected? That's not a fault, but proof that you have a unique, handmade natural piece at home. Read What is alabaster? to understand why. Curious about the range? Explore all alabaster tea light holders.
